. jason brooks with kcbs and joins us now and is it all politics or is business at play as well, jason? >> reporter: we have a number of issues sinking the stock market today. it's one of the worst days for the market in 2012. there are election issues at play, as well. we have sectors that are under pressure from regulatory concerns, namely financial, also energy. but then i have healthcare sector doing well since romney won't be able to invalidate obamacare. there is the looming fiscal crisis and the partisanship that's prevailing up until this election, worries that congress and the white house won't be able to solve that looming fiscal crisis. but another big issue really sinking the market today is europe. we have a downgrade from the european union on growth prospects in europe for this year. and it's looking like the recession could last all the way through next year. you're looking at riots in greece. greece has been a big issue all the way across. we're also hearing problems that germany's economy is getting worse. germany is the economic driver in europe. this

-ramps to treasure island are re-opening and i just heard from our radio partners kcbs that it sounds like muni will be shuttling people who weren't able to get home from the transbay terminal. that bus may be shuttling them home now. that's back to normal. what's still an issue is police activity. a stretch of jacklin road south of milpitas high remains shut down. this is the area right there between arizona avenue and campbell. avoid that area. the main lines of the freeway through milpitas, 880/237, this is a live look. and you can see there is no delay at all. the silicon valley commute is a good one all along westbound 237 from 880 towards zanker road. checking other bridges, you will notice the fog is not as much of an issue this morning as yesterday. no big delays towards doyle drive. east bay in the clear. westbound 580 is the only one really showing any major brake lights right now and it's through livermore towards the dublin interchange. that's a check of your "timesaver traffic." i know brian has been busy monitoring some pretty good sized changes coming up in weather. >> well, yeah

, we took a call from pete with the kcbs phone force. coming across a good sized puddle approaching woodside road. on-ramp at 280 is blocked so standing water and already an accident in that area. a traffic alert out of san francisco a truck fire is out but still blocking lanes. southbound 280 approaching highway 101. 101 looks okay down towards sfo. we are sending a photographer new york 101 approaching oakland road. east beltway close to the oakland airport so if you are heading towards the airport this is what it looks like in the southbound lanes of 880. drive times are moving at top speeds through the macarthur maze or northbound through hayward but a heads up. bart is a great option this morning. they have more than 47 bart trains all running on time. so here's a live look at all your bart routes all across the bay area. take it to sfo or the oakland airport. >>> people will soon have to keep their clothes on in san francisco after the board of supervisors voted to ban public nudity. >> shame on you! >> you can see see and hear protestors stripping in the hearing and escorted

jobless claims are down a bit. here now to chat about it is jason brooks with kcbs and on a thursday. jason, good morning. >> reporter: a barrage of economic reports out this morning. leading the way weekly jobless claims falling by 9,000 this past week to 363,000. we saw the four-week average dip a bit to 367,000. these numbers really suggest a flat hiring market. tomorrow, we get the all- important october jobs report from the labor department. and economists are expecting a net gain of 124,000 jobs last month with the unemployment rate going up to 7.9%. a automakers, retailers, reporting their october sales figures today. and san francisco-based gap showed a strong turnaround in the third quarter compared to a year early posting a positive gain in sales compared to a drop last year. it also said that october was much stronger than in october of last year. got shares down about 1.5% this morning but they have been revived over the past year doubling in that amount of time. netflix is in the spotlight after noted corporate raider carl icahn revealed that it took a

. they are closing off the road. we heard from our kcbs partners they won't expect to be open until 7 a.m. there was an officer-involved shooting in the area. we are waiting for the public information officer to arrive on scene to confirm that but we heard that milpitas police were trying to pull over a man in a tan honda and then took off, jumped out of the car and reportedly fired shots at officers. again, these are reports that we are hearing. we are waiting for police confirmation in the next cummins. we are hoping that we can confirm this more in detail but to give you an idea of the area right here, there are three schools here. a middle school, high school and elementary school in this area so that's why they are roping off this area to make sure it is secure. but again these are just initial reports that we're hearing at the moment. we are expecting milpitas police to bring out a representative hopefully in the next few minutes so we can give you a definite on what is going on in this area. live in milpitas, cate caugiran, cbs 5. >>> 5:02.
